Three faces familiar to the U.S. Soccer scene will be presiding over games during this summer’s Copa America Centenario.
The local organizing committee of the tournament announced on Wednesday the match officials that will be in charge of matches during the upcoming Copa America Centenario, and U.S. referees Mark Geiger, Jair Marrufo, and Armando Villareal were among the CONCACAF representatives.
In total, 58 referees from 18 countries in CONCACAF and CONMEBOL were chosen. Eighteen of those officials will serve as the man in the middle of games, 34 as assistant referees, and six as reserves. The two confederations’ respective referee committees oversaw the selection process for the match officials.
The Copa America Centenario, which is celebrating the 100th year of CONMEBOL’s tournament, runs from June 3-26 in the United States.
